Trip to San Antonio

We spent a fun filled extended weekend in San Antonio.  We stayed at the Hill Country Hyatt for the first time.  It was just as family friendly as Hyatt resort at Bastrop we have visited before but this time decided to include a trip to Sea World so we headed a little further west.

The kids had a great time playing in the park and pools at the resort.  They chased ducks and searched for rolly polies (spellcheck isn't helping me on that one) and caterpillars.  Andrew especially liked the "lazy liver" (river) while Lila preferred the "kitty cat" (kiddie) pool.

Both liked watching "Shampoo" the whale at Sea World.  I swear the kids renamed everything on the trip which gave us lots of laughs.

We had a blast and were sad that it rained our last morning...made us wish for another day.  We really enjoy these Hyatt resorts and plan to look out for another one to try on our next vacation.

Travel tips:  Become a Hyatt Gold Pass member!  They upgraded our rooms at no charge and you are also given priority for late check outs.
On weekends and during peak season, kids 4 and under eat and drink free with adult buffet in the cafe.  This was a great deal for us since both of our kids fell within the age range.
Dress the kids in swim clothes for Sea World.  Lila was not old enough for any of the rides and would have been much happier if she'd gotten to play in the splash pad.

It takes a full day to see all the shows/feedings at Sea World.  We got to see many things, but really could have used another couple of hours.
Rent/bring a stroller!  Because the shows were back to back and had limited showing (not yet peak time) we were hurrying from one stage to the next...not great for little feet.
If you like Diet Coke, pack it!  Everywhere we went only offered Pepsi products (not a fan!).
The Original Mexican Restaurant on the Riverwalk received 2 thumbs down from our group.  It really tasted like Taco Cabana but cost quite a bit more.
The Riverwalk boat tour was okay, but honestly next time, I'd just spend the time back at the resort letting the kids run and play.

Sounds like a fun trip! We love Sea World and my parents live less than 10 minutes away. I keep forgetting to let you know that Carly does not have her ears pierced just yet...she will for her 4th birthday. For now she loves to wear clip on earrings :)

Cute blog-cor with the owls! Great trip summary and tips! Totally with you on the Sea World tips and the Riverwalk. The water park was almost the best part for us! Fun times!

Glad you all had a fun trip. We are taking a break from Sea World this year after 2 yrs with season passes. Of course, plan to return next year. Totally agree about the river walk...I think we ate at that Mex restaurant. I could stay at that resort all weekend and never leave!
